What do you perceive?

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

So I was riding on a rail trail in Hopewell Junction with my dear friend Bets…she felt as though we were going uphill and I felt as though we were going downhill…clearly it was a very subtle hill either way right?! Visually, I perceived it as downhill but my legs were saying something different. Now I had ridden 15 miles the day before so I thought perhaps my legs were just tired. I decided to stop come fellow bicyclists and ask them if they thought it was uphill or downhill…and guess what? They said there were JUST having the same conversation! They did encourage me that no matter what it feels like right now, when we ride back it will DEF be downhill and an easier ride. AND….they were SO right!

My mind that sees all as lessons to be learned said “Well, Carol no matter what life has in store for you, it all feels downhill and that’s quite amazing!” So I do think I was going uphill as my body suspected but my mind, and the cockeye optimist that I am, tried to see is differently. Truly it doesn’t matter right? What matters is how we perceive it…how it all feels…how we resist it and how what we resist persists. If you let it all in, the good, the bad and the ugly, and you ALLOW then nothing gets stuck right? AND I don’t want to be stuck, clogging up my energy and feeling depleted. I want to be free…letting it all flow in and flow out…riding the waves of it all.

This Too Shall Pass…whatever we perceive as wrong or right…I hope you will continue to join me on the mat as we ride the waves together.

Namaste

Carol
