Embracing Love and Energy Medicine in February: A Journey to Inner Harmony

February is a month that invites us to reflect on love in many forms. Beyond the usual celebrations of Valentine’s Day, it offers a unique opportunity to connect with ourselves and others on a deeper level. This month, the spirit of love intertwines beautifully with the energy of the Winter Olympics, reminding us that despite our differences, we are all connected as one. It is also a perfect time to explore the healing power of energy medicine, a practice that helps us land on the ground, arrive on our breath, and listen to the subtle messages our bodies share.

This post explores how February’s themes of love and unity can inspire a journey toward inner harmony through energy medicine. Whether you are new to this practice or looking to deepen your experience, you will find practical insights and encouragement to embrace the energies within and around you.

The Power of Love in February

Love is often seen as an emotion reserved for romantic relationships, but its reach is much broader. In February, love becomes a lens through which we can view our connections with family, friends, community, and ourselves. The Olympics, held during this month, symbolize global unity and the celebration of human potential. Watching athletes from around the world compete with passion and respect reminds us that love can transcend borders and differences.

Love in this context means:

  • Acceptance of others and ourselves, flaws and all

  • Compassion that motivates us to support and uplift

  • Presence in the moment, fully experiencing connection

  • Gratitude for the relationships and experiences that enrich our lives

By embracing these aspects of love, we create a foundation for healing and growth.

What Is Energy Medicine?

Energy medicine is a holistic approach that focuses on the body’s subtle energy systems. It recognizes that physical, emotional, and mental health are interconnected through energy flows. When these flows are balanced, we feel grounded, calm, and aligned. When blocked or disrupted, discomfort and illness can arise ie; dis-ease.

This practice involves techniques such as:

  • Breath awareness and control

  • Mindful movement and grounding exercises

  • Attuning to sensations and energies within the body

  • Using intention to receive healing energy

Energy medicine encourages us to slow down and listen deeply to what our bodies and minds are communicating. It invites us to relax more fully, creating space for healing and transformation.

Landing on the Ground and Arriving on the Breath

Two key steps in energy medicine are landing on the ground and arriving on the breath. These practices help us anchor ourselves in the present moment and connect with our inner energy.

Landing on the ground means feeling the support beneath us, whether it’s the floor, earth, or a chair. This physical connection stabilizes our nervous system and reduces anxiety. Simple ways to practice this include:

  • Standing barefoot on natural surfaces like grass or soil

  • Feeling the weight of your body evenly distributed when sitting

  • Using gentle movements to notice how your feet or sit bones connect with the ground and tuning your attention there!

Arriving on the breath involves tuning into your natural breathing rhythm without trying to change it. Breath is a powerful tool for calming the mind and balancing energy. Try these steps:

  • Close your eyes and take a few slow, gentle breaths

  • Notice the rise and fall of your chest or belly by arriving on your breath

  • Allow your breath to deepen naturally as you relax

Together, these practices create a stable base from which you can explore deeper awareness.

Listening to Your Body’s Messages

Our bodies constantly communicate through sensations, emotions, and energy shifts. Learning to listen to these messages is essential for maintaining balance and health. Energy medicine encourages a gentle, curious approach to body awareness.

Here are some ways to begin tuning in:

  • Body scan meditation: Slowly move your attention through different parts of your body, noticing areas of tension, warmth, or ease. Listen to Insight Timer and Carol Shwidock's body scans. It's a Free App so check it out if you wish.

  • Journaling sensations: After meditation or movement, write down what you felt physically and emotionally. The key is to write without judgement...just let it pour out of you like the energy of water does.

  • Mindful movement: Engage in yoga and chi gong with Carol, paying attention to how your body responds, again without judging just observing...

By attending to these signals, you can identify what your body needs—whether rest, movement, nourishment, or emotional support and begin deeply LISTENING which is part of the Water Elements focus on the ears!

Attending to Energies Inside and Around Us

Energy medicine expands our awareness beyond the physical body to include the energies that surround us. These can be influenced by our environment, relationships, and thoughts.

To care for these energies:

  • Create a calming space with natural light, plants, or soothing sounds

  • Practice setting intentions for positive energy flow before meditation or healing sessions

  • Use visualization techniques to imagine clearing and renewing your energy field

  • Spend time in nature to absorb grounding and revitalizing energies

These practices help maintain a healthy energetic balance, which supports overall well-being.

Receiving and Embracing Healing Energy

Receiving energy healing means opening yourself to support and allowing transformation to happen. It requires trust and surrender, which can be challenging but deeply rewarding.

Ways to cultivate receptivity include:

  • Practicing self-compassion and patience

  • Letting go of control and expectations during healing sessions

  • Engaging with a trusted practitioner or community for guidance

  • Using affirmations that reinforce your openness to healing

  • Check out The Power of the Pause by Jillian Pranksy, my teacher's newest book!

In our experience, the more we relax and listen, the more we receive the benefits of energy medicine.
